Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Nice food and nice price. Went there 3 times! Tried the Fried Ginger Rice (8RM), Noodles with Seafood (12,5RM) and another one I can’t remember the name."
"Wonderful, fresh food served very quickly. Lots of vegetarian options which can be made vegan if you ask for ‘no egg’. Lovely, warming but not too spicy laksa and an interesting selection of friend rice dishes."
"I stumbled upon this place accidentally. We wanted to try somewhere else but was full. This place is obviously for foreigners. The decorative, the feel, the vibe were all meant for tourist. Nevertheless it's still nice and have the right aesthetic. Food wise. We ordered Umai (Sarawakian ceviche), Laksa Sarawak, and Beef Mee Kolok Special. The star is perhaps the umai. It's not exactly authentic but it's there. I wish it was wetter and having more lime. I wish for tomato in it too. Nonetheless it was flavourful. I like the Sarawak laksa. I feel the taste was there, the flavour was there. I would wish for the soup to be slightly thicker. I still like it nonetheless. My wife on the other hand said she wasn't please. As for the mee kolok, I felt it was ok, slightly under flavoured. My wife on the hand loved it very much. She said the flavour and noodle texture was spot on. So, we still enjoyed ourselves. I would order the umai again in the future with some local vege and rice instead. Meaning I will come again."
"I had the kacangma with brown rice. Their kacangma is loaded with ginger and wine. Nyaman. Delish. Rm20 for both."
"The food at Borneo Delight Kuching is absolutely delicious, with authentic local flavors. The service was warm and friendly even though it was already last order time, they still accepted our order with a smile. Truly appreciated as a guest. Definitely a must-visit spot when in Kuching!"
"Christmas Day itself - we actually had trouble looking for place to have lunch, as many restaurants were closed for holiday. Then we noticed that Borneo Delight was opened as we walked around Hong San Si, a Taoist temple right beside Moon & Sun Coffee. We walked in to be served by members of the family and promptly apologized for the slow service due to shortage of staffs (public holiday). Their menu is simple and straight forward - one item one variation. ◾Petai in the form of sambal petai made a good starter. ◾Ayam pansuh - as expected from this dish.. well marinated and juicy meat. ◾Terung Asam Ikan Salai - appetizing. ◾Kacangma chicken - similar to pansuh but more herbal taste to it. ◾Stir fry bamboo shoot - gotta love the crunchiness of the sweet shoot. ◾Ayam Bakar had lovely smokiness not forget to mention tender. ◾Dabai Fried Rice (Olive Rice) - something different in a good way for those who love fried rice. ◾Local steamed red rice Apart from the rather hot & stuffy environment, everything was fine from start until finish."
"Quiet, simple, unassuming place that serves up simple native cuisine. Don’t let the home cooking deter you as it’s tasty and something you might find at a local home."
"Excellent local home made food. Large portions and freshly made. Had 3 dishes. All excellent. Super friendly family and ace service.. a pleasure.."
